And we close this week’s show by bringing you the most extraordinary words from a grieving mother.Last week was the first anniversary since Hersh Goldberg-Polin was murdered whilst in captivity in Gaza after he was kidnapped on October 7.
We were so blessed to meet his relatives during the off-Broadway run of OCTOBER 7. Last week, his mother spoke at a memorial service, and we wanted to bring you her extraordinary words. You can watch her speak on the show or read her words below:
We are born. We live. And we leave.
We are born. We live. And we leave. These are the bones of what happens. There is more that fills the in between.
We love. We learn. Develop. Evolve. Become. Create. Along the path, we experience satisfaction, disappointment, happiness, success, failure, meet and part, cry and laugh, and cry.
Build. Nurture. Grow. Fail. Fall. Get up. Break. Heal. Get Stronger. Get weaker. And we suffer. All in different times and in different ways. Some are here for a moment and some are here for a century. But the finale is always the same.
There is only one exit. Call it whatever suits you. The end. What is left behind can be a legacy, a lesson, a breeze, or nothing if we are honest, usually nothing at all. Except love, it didn’t get the memo.
And this is to Hersh: Sometimes I look deep into my own eyes. I unzip them, my eyes. And I can hear you, and I know you’re here. Inside. Even though I can’t see you.
