Dynasty Star John James to Play President Joe Biden in Upcoming Hunter Biden Biopic

LOS ANGELES – Actor John James (“Dynasty,” “The Colbys”) will portray America’s 46th president Joe Biden in “My Son Hunter” a movie highlighting his son’s dodgy business dealings, party/strip club lifestyle and addiction struggles.

The movie will explore how Hunter Biden amassed tens of millions of dollars from foreign entities owned by oligarchs, and the controversial interactions between Hunter, his father and other members of the Biden family.  The film is being funded by a crowdfunding campaign that has raised over $1.6 million.

James is a prominent American actor and is best known for his 10 year role as Jeff Colby in the prime time TV series “Dynasty.”

“The script has it all,” said James.  “Money, power, greed, sex, drugs, and alcohol.  It kind of reminds me of Dynasty . . . This is a common tale of a father’s ultimate love for his son, despite his major shortcomings.  My Son Hunter is an inside look at the world of politics.”

James will join British actor Laurence Fox (“Lewis” “White Lines” “Victoria”) as Hunter Biden, as they play one of America’s most controversial father-son duos.

Veteran actor and producer Robert Davi (“License to Kill,” “The Goonies”) is directing the film. Davi said the choice to cast James came after much deliberation of who could give an honest portrayal of President Biden.

“I had been belaboring over who would play Joe Biden,” said Davi. “I wanted someone that would not do a caricature, but could breathe complexity into the portrayal of Joe. That’s John James.”

Davi said he had recently watched an interview John James gave on Australian television.

“I saw in him a depth, sincerity and an extreme likability which I wanted for the basis of Joe Biden, a man who has for 40 plus years been at the forefront of American politics.  It is important to have an  actor that can measure up to such an icon, while at the same time present an endearing quirkiness without falling into the trap of belaboring his apparent frailties. John James is that actor.  With John and Laurence, I think audiences will be riveted by Joe and Hunters relationship and come to understand the dynamics between father and son.”

The film’s producers are Irish filmmakers and journalist couple Phelim McAleer and Ann McElhinney (“Gosnell,” “FrackNation”).  McAleer said they were thrilled to have James on board the project.

“Joe Biden is a complex character,” explained McAleer. “At times he mumbles and stumbles but he also is one the longest serving politicians in Washington who has become very wealthy during his time in public service. John is the perfect actor to portray that complexity.”

McAleer said My Son Hunter will be “Austin Powers meets King Lear meets House of Cards.”

“Joe and Hunter have this strange King Lear style relationship. Hunter can never live up to his fathers’ expectations. And although Joe loves Hunter, he sees him both as an addict who needs help and a business opportunity to be exploited. This conflict is what makes for the great drama.”

The film’s budget is $1.8m and shooting begins in Serbia this week and will last four weeks.  You can learn more about the project at MySonHunter.com
