FBI Lovebirds: UnderCovers
FBI Lovebirds: UnderCovers is a groundbreaking new play based on the transcripts of Peter Strzok and Lisa Page’s secret text messages and their answers to prolonged questioning in private congressional hearings. The script is written by Phelim McAleer and is completely verbatim and is exclusively comprised of text messages and congressional hearing transcripts.
McAleer has been at the forefront of introducing the Verbatim Theater format to the United States. Verbatim Theater, popular in the UK, is “a play constructed from the precise words spoken by people interviewed about a particular event or topic.”
So far the play has been performed twice in Washington, D.C. It was the first play performed at CPAC in the conference’s history. The play has received praise from President Trump and the actors and the playwrights were invited to meet with President Trump in the Oval Office.
The play stars notable Hollywood actors Dean Cain and Kristy Swanson.
Cain is an actor best known for playing Clark Kent/Superman in the TV series Lois & Clark: The New Adventures of Superman. He has had a prolific career featuring numerous roles, including killer Scott Peterson in The Perfect Husband: The Laci Peterson Story.
Kristy Swanson is best known for her portrayal of Buffy Summers in the cult film Buffy the Vampire Slayer. She also starred in Pretty in Pink, Ferris Bueller’s Day Off, and Big Daddy.
The play previously premiered in DC at the The Ronald Reagan Building and International Trade Center. Politico labeled it “Hamilton for the MAGA crowd” and Vice News described it as “edgy…the most dangerous play in Washington.”
The Federalist described the play as a “comedic hit” and a hilarious play with a strong cast, great script, and a perfect story.
