Dean Cain’s Dirty Spicy Rice
We absolutely LOVE this recipe from Dean Cain. Beware it is very very spicy – but it’s addicting! You can watch our episode with Dean here.
Here’s Dean’s recipe in his own words . . .
Ingredients: 3 cups of rice (I use sprouted short brown rice, but have used jasmine and others — it all works!)
Cook the rice separately
In a LARGE sauce pan
Coconut Oil (and/or olive oil) in the pan to saute the below:
Chopped Onion – 1 large (I buy pre-chopped, and I use the whole container!!)
Chopped cilantro (one bunch)
Chopped scallions (one bunch)
Small handful of edamame (or mukamake) soy beans
SPECIAL SPICY MIXTURE–
IN A FOOD PROCESSOR, FINELY CHOP–
6-7 bulbs of garlic
2 or 3 Jalapeno peppers
1 Habanero pepper (very spicy hot)
Mix the special spicy mixture to the Onion, cilantro, scallion, and edamame — and saute for 5-7 minutes or until soft.
Add cooked rice.
Add soy sauce (to taste)
Mix all together, and continue cooking for another 10-15 minutes at a low heat.
All done!!!
I love to eat the rice on day 2 and 3 — it seems to get better!!!!
I mix an egg to a small cup of rice and microwave for 3 minutes (1 min at a time – mixing in between)
